Day 1: Arrival in Kolkata

Arrive in Kolkata, the cultural capital of India. After checking in to your hotel, begin your exploration with a visit to the iconic Victoria Memorial, a grand monument built in memory of Queen Victoria, surrounded by lush gardens. Next, explore the Indian Museum, India’s oldest museum with extensive collections of art, archaeology, and anthropology. In the evening, visit the famous Kalighat Temple, one of the oldest and most revered temples dedicated to Goddess Kali. Overnight stay in Kolkata.

Start the day with a visit to Writer’s Building, a historic structure that once housed the offices of the East India Company. Proceed to St. Paul’s Cathedral, an example of beautiful Gothic architecture. Visit Raj Bhavan (Governor’s House), the colonial-era residence of the Governor of West Bengal. Afterward, take a walk across the Howrah Bridge, the iconic symbol of Kolkata, and explore the Howrah Flower Market. End the day with a visit to the Marble Palace, a 19th-century mansion filled with art and sculptures. Overnight in Kolkata.

Begin your day with a visit to Tagore House, the home of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, and learn about his contributions to Bengali literature. Explore College Street, a famous book street, lined with numerous bookstores and known as “Boi Para.” Visit the Kolkata Art Centre or the Academy of Fine Arts, which showcase modern and contemporary Bengali art. Start with a visit to Dakshineswar Kali Temple, a prominent temple dedicated to Goddess Kali. Continue to Belur Math, the serene headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mission, known for its architectural beauty. In the evening, take a boat ride along the Hooghly River, offering views of the Howrah Bridge and other landmarks. Overnight in Kolkata.

Take a day trip to the Sundarbans, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rich biodiversity, including the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. On your final day, explore the Kolkata Metro Railway, India’s first underground metro system. Visit the Birla Planetarium or take a stroll through Kumartuli, the district famous for creating Durga Puja idols. Enjoy a traditional Bengali lunch at one of the local restaurants.
